Civil Engineer

As a Civil Engineer at our consultancy, you will play a central role in the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects that shape communities and support economic development across South Africa. From water and sanitation schemes to roads, stormwater, and structural works, your technical expertise will directly influence the quality, safety, and sustainability of the built environment. You will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of engineers, technologists, and project managers, contributing to projects from concept through to construction and close-out. - Prepare civil engineering designs, calculations, and technical drawings for infrastructure projects such as water, sanitation, roads, and stormwater systems. - Produce detailed design reports, specifications, and bills of quantities that meet client requirements and applicable standards. - Conduct site investigations, inspections, and assessments to inform design decisions and monitor construction quality. - Support project delivery by tracking timelines, budgets, and deliverables to help ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients to resolve technical challenges and coordinate design interfaces. - Apply relevant South African standards, codes, and legislation (including SANS and environmental requirements) to all engineering work. - Contribute to tender and proposal preparation, including technical input and cost estimation. - Maintain accurate project documentation and provide regular progress updates to project leads.

- BSc/BEng or BTech degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution. - Registration with ECSA as a Candidate Engineer, or eligibility to register, with a clear path toward Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) status. - A minimum of 3 years of relevant civil engineering design or project experience. - Proficiency in civil engineering design software (such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or equivalent). - Working knowledge of applicable South African standards, including SANS and relevant infrastructure design guidelines. - Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills applied to engineering design and delivery. - Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

- Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA. - Experience in water and sanitation, roads, or municipal infrastructure projects. - Familiarity with hydraulic modelling or structural analysis tools. - Exposure to contract administration under GCC, JBCC, or FIDIC frameworks. - Experience working with public sector clients and municipalities. - Knowledge of BIM workflows and coordination across disciplines.
