Senior Software Tester

As a Senior Software Tester at our engineering consultancy, you will play a central part in safeguarding the quality, reliability, and performance of the software solutions we deliver to clients across multiple sectors. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, business analysts, project managers, and client stakeholders to understand requirements, anticipate risks, and design comprehensive testing strategies. Working within a consultancy environment means variety: you will move between projects, technologies, and problem domains, applying rigorous testing practices to each. • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts aligned to project requirements and acceptance criteria. • Execute functional, regression, integration, and performance testing across web and application platforms, documenting results clearly and traceably. • Build and maintain automated test suites to increase coverage and reduce manual effort, targeting measurable improvements in defect detection. • Identify, log, and track defects through resolution, collaborating with developers to reproduce issues and verify fixes. • Partner with business analysts and engineers to review requirements early, ensuring testability and reducing late-stage defects. • Mentor and guide junior testers, reviewing their work and helping to raise overall quality standards within the team. • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and standards across projects. • Report on quality metrics and testing progress to project stakeholders, providing clear risk assessments to support release decisions.

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. • At least 5 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance, including senior or lead responsibilities. • Demonstrated experience designing and executing test plans across functional, regression, and integration testing. • Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks (for example Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar). • Proficiency with defect tracking and test management tools (for example Jira, Azure DevOps, or TestRail). • Solid understanding of software development life cycles and testing methodologies, including Agile practices. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with clear written and verbal communication in English.

• ISTQB certification (Foundation or Advanced level) or equivalent testing accreditation. • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured. • Familiarity with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter or k6. • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into build processes. • Basic scripting or programming ability (for example Python, JavaScript, or Java) to support automation. • Prior experience in a consultancy or multi-client project environment. • Sector experience relevant to engineering, financial services, or public infrastructure projects.
