Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will design, integrate, and maintain complex engineering systems that underpin the solutions we deliver to our clients. Your work will bridge multiple engineering disciplines, ensuring that individual components come together to form reliable, well-documented, and high-performing systems. As an engineering consultancy, our reputation depends on the quality and integrity of the systems we deliver. This role sits at the heart of that promise, translating client requirements into robust technical architectures and guiding projects from concept through to verification and handover. You will collaborate closely with project engineers, technical leads, and client stakeholders to keep delivery on track and technically sound. - Analyse client and project requirements and translate them into clear, traceable system specifications and architectures. - Design, integrate, and document engineering systems across multiple disciplines, ensuring alignment with project objectives. - Develop and maintain requirements, interface control, and verification documentation to support consistent project delivery. - Plan and support system verification and validation activities, including test procedures and acceptance criteria. - Identify technical risks and propose practical mitigation strategies to keep projects on schedule and within scope. - Collaborate with project engineers, technical leads, and clients to resolve integration issues and clarify technical decisions. - Contribute to design reviews and provide input that improves system quality, reliability, and maintainability. - Maintain accurate records and configuration management to ensure traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

- A recognised Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electronic, or related discipline). - A minimum of 4 years of relevant systems or multidisciplinary engineering experience. - Demonstrated experience in requirements definition, system design, and integration. - Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes. - Proficiency in preparing technical documentation, specifications, and verification plans. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across multiple engineering domains. - Effective written and verbal communication skills for both technical and client-facing contexts.

- Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Candidate Engineer. - Experience within an engineering consultancy or project-based delivery environment. - Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and methods. - Exposure to requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Polarion. - Sector experience in defence, energy, telecommunications, transport, or industrial systems. - Knowledge of relevant standards such as ISO/IEC 15288 or INCOSE best practices.
